Pricing Experiments That Actually Stick

A simple pricing experiment loop I use to learn fast without confusing customers.

One variable at a time

I change only one lever per test—anchor, package, or discount. Multiple changes make the signal useless and erode trust.

A/B the narrative, not just the number

I test two narratives for the same price. Sometimes framing the value beats changing the price point itself.

Keep the test window short

Most pricing learning happens within two weeks. I cap experiments at 14 days and decide fast to avoid customer whiplash.

Protect early adopters

Existing customers keep their pricing for 12 months. Stability matters more than squeezing short-term ARR.

Write the learning memo

Every experiment ends with a memo: hypothesis, outcome, next move. These notes are gold when the team changes.
